As a father of seven and a proud grandfather of two wonderful grandkids, I am deeply committed to supporting your mission of nurturing the healthiest possible future for your children. Undoubtedly, this mission is rife with its own set of challenges. Just a century ago, the landscape was quite different; an article like this wouldn't have been necessary. Kids were out playing, soaking in the sun, and staying active. It was an era when food was primarily about nourishment, not profit. Food was for individual health, not corporate wealth.

However, in today's world, it's an honest admission that, despite maintaining my health fairly well, ensuring my children tread the same path is a formidable challenge. They are inundated with advertising, constantly bombarded by images of seemingly healthy individuals consuming fake foods. As parents, we offer guidance, but our wisdom is often met with scepticism. Our children are being influenced, some might even say brainwashed, by corporate interests. And, once our kids have tasted any food wrapped in a packet or brightly coloured box, it becomes difficult, as it will have been highly engineered for addiction. Yes, food addiction is real. If you don’t believe me, and I can understand it sounds like a bold claim, read my dear friend Dr Jen Unwin's book, Folk in the Road.

Our aspirations for our children extend beyond mere physical health; we desire holistic well-being encompassing mental and emotional wellness. If I were to coach myself, offering guidance on raising healthy and resilient children, I'd emphasise these five key principles:

1. Foster an environment that encourages your children to embrace real, unprocessed foods while resisting the allure of fake and fast food. One of the health charities I fund, the PHC, has a campaign aimed at children called Real Food Rebellion. Do check it out.
2. Prioritise quality sleep to support their physical and mental development.
3. Encourage outdoor activities, which promote physical fitness and nurture a diverse microbiome, often too sterile in our indoor-centric world.
4. Tread cautiously with technology, particularly the excessive use of social media, which can erode attention spans and breed an unhealthy culture of comparison, potentially stealing away their happiness.
5. Do everything possible to avoid toxins and chemicals in vegetable oils, foods, hygiene products, and daily life.

When it comes to children's health, our primary focus is on promoting nutritionally dense, whole foods while avoiding chemicals and ultra-processed, fake foods. Supplements should be considered with caution for children under 18, given the risk of choking. Here are some child-friendly products we offer:

Multivitamins: We've crafted two types of multivitamins that children love. One is a delightful mouth spray, while the other, although called 'chewable,' is more like a crunchy mint. Both are packed with carefully selected and rigorously tested vitamins to support growing children.

Vitamin D: Ensuring sufficient vitamin D is crucial for growing kids. To make it easier for them, we've developed a convenient mouth spray.

Toothpaste: Many toothpaste products marketed for children contain a cocktail of chemicals. Instead, we recommend using a natural-based toothpaste to start and end your child's day.

Shampoo: Adult shampoos can be harsh on children, often leading to discomfort and tears during shower time. Our sulphate and silicone-free shampoos maintain the natural balance of the scalp, avoiding harmful additives like parabens, SLES/SLS, and synthetic preservatives.
